For, the Dorbar Shnong (village council) has declared the favourite tourist destination as a "no-alchohol zone" in view of the damaging impact of liquor on youths and society.
A village elder said the council has asked volunteers to keep a close vigil to ensure the prohibitory order was followed.
Authorities said anybody found violating the order will be penalized adding that the order was in public interest.
The women, too, are playing a crucial role in ensuring that Laitkynsew becomes a "no alcohol zone" by volunteering to check any attempt to sell or produce alcohol at the village.
There are about 150 households with majority of the villagers being farmers.
The Dorbar Shnong, in collaboration with various NGOs, organized a public campaign against alcoholic drinks at the village.
"The decision to ban alcohol was taken by the Dorbar in view of social evils caused by liquor consumption," said village chief Modi Basaiawmoit.
Alcoholism not only creates problems in families and society but also kills the conscience of a person, said member of an NGO.
