KLA announces stand

Imphal, Feb 2 : Announcing its stand and beliefs, the Kuki Liberation Army has today claimed that though India has made rapid progress in different fields, the people of the North East continue to be exploited.

In a statement, Malsawm Kuki, self styled secretary of the outfit said that all the tribals have been robbed of their land by accords after accords and added that cease fire and SoO pacts are only meant to divide the people of the region.

Such pacts will never bring peace and prosperity to the people, asserted KLA.

Stating that the need of the hour is to unite all the people and landowners of the North East, Malsawm said that KLA/KLO stands for unification of all the Kukis and protection of their forefathers' land, peoples' identity and self determination while looking forward to mutual co-operation with all like minded organisations.

It is unfortunate that due ideological differences the KLA has been divided into three camps, the UPF/KLA led by Timothy Kuki, KNO/KLA led by Kamlal Touthang alias Armstrong Gangte belonging to the SoO groups and the KLO/KLA.

The two others are always welcome to return to the parent fold, said Malsawm and added that the KLA/KLO has not given thought to becoming a party to the SoO as the merits and demerits are being studied in depth in consultation with land owners of Kukigam (Kukiland/Jalen Gam) .

The statement added that Vincent Kuki has been elected the chief finance secretary of the organisation.
