Bangladeshi national detained at Dawki, Jaintia Hills

The BSF has detained one Bangladeshi national from Dawki  PS area in Jaintia Hills district on Saturday. The person identified as Bulan Roy was apprehended along with a mobile set and photographs while trying to cross over the international boundary.

Smuggler dies of cold wave in Jalangi, Murshidabad

The dead body of missing Minhazul Shaikh has been recovered from the Padma river near Singhapara under Jalangi PS in the district of Murshidabad on Thursday. A native of Ramakantapur village, Minhazul went missing from 23rd January. According to the police he died of cold while attempting to smuggle some contraband across the river at night. His body has been sent for post-mortem.

Anti-trafficking committees in the tea estates

Anti-trafficking organisation Child Line held a meeting at Binnaguri town in Jalpaiguri district to raise awareness among the people on trafficking of women and children on Thursday. The Director of Child Line Sudip Chakraborty said, “A committee would be formed in every tea estate, comprising of representatives of voluntary organizations, police, administration, authority and the trade union to monitor the movement of outsiders in the tea estates. They would engage in identifying the traffickers and hand them over to the police.”

Man arrested from Siliguri turns out to be Bangladeshi

The suspicious person alleged to be an illegal Bangladeshi and arrested on Thursday, indeed turned out to be so. The Bangladeshi has been identified has Mohammad Zameer, a native of Mohsedpur in Gopalganj district of Bangladesh. US Dollar 50 has been recovered from him.
Last week Zameer and his three associates infiltrated into India and rented a house in Jyotinagar area in Siliguri. On Thursday he was detained by the shop owners in the Hawker’s Corner when he tried to exchange the US Dollar. He introduced himself as one Dilip Mondal from Titagarh in North 24 Pargana.

Nepalese national held with fake currency from Naxalbari, Darjeeling

The jawans of SSB has arrested a Nepalese national from Bada Manijot on Indo-Nepal border under Naxalbari PS in the district of Darjeeling for possessing fake Indian currency. The arrested Bhakta Rajbangshi hails from Bikash village in Jhapa district of Nepal. Fake Indian currency having face value of Rs 40,500 has been recovered from him.
