Justice Prafulla Chandra Pant appointed Meghalaya HC Chief Justice

Uttarakhand High Court Judge Justice Prafulla Chandra Pant has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Meghalaya High Court.
'In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (1) of Article 217 of the Constitution of India, the President has appointed Justice Prafulla Chandra Pant, Judge of the High Court of Uttarakhand, as the Chief Justice of the High Court of Meghalaya with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office,' an official statement said.

The statement said President Pranab Mukherjee has, after consultation with the Chief Justice of India, has transferred Justice Satish Kumar Agnihotri, Judge of the High Court of Chhattisgarh, to the Madras High Court.

Justice Agnihotri has been asked to assume charge of his office in the Madras High Court on or before October three, 2013.

The President has also appointed Asapu Ramalingeswara Rao and Dama Seshadri Naidu as Additional Judges of the High Court of Andhra Pradesh, in that order of seniority, for a period of two years from the date they assume charge of their offices.
