'' We will not take any responsibility for the turf since FIFA had not consulted us on the project,'' Mr Lanong told reporters here.
The FIFA has slected Meghalaya as one of the several Indian states chosen for laying artificial turfs among other projects of the FIFA under its 'Win in India with India' programme.
The project is nearing completion with the major work now remaining is the laying of artificial grass.
FIFA Consultant Eric Harrison, who inspected the ongoing construction of the artificial turf at Polo ground said that the government should erect a fencing along the river to prevent overflowing of the water into the ground during heavy monsoon.
We have no fund for construction of fencing around the artificial turf at third ground. We wanted that artificial turf should come up at JN stadium, Mr Lanong said.
