An independent legislator had compared the teachers with potato and MLAs with apple during the Assembly session.
"As teachers, we are shocked with these comment. Certainly it shows that politics has gone over his head," APSTA General Secretary F C Shullai said in a statement here today.
"We will invite him for an open debate in this issue of potato verses apple and let him clarify that how teachers are potato and MLAs are apple," Mr Shullai said, adding that the statement have hurt the sentiment of the entire teachers’ community in the state in particular and the country as a whole.
The APSTA has also threatened to launch a demonstration in front of the residence of the legislator concerned if the statement made by him is not clarified.
