The proposal was made by the Meghalaya Right to Information Movement(MRTIM) in its letter to Chief Minister Mukul Sangma on April 7.
An MRTIM statement issued here today said the two individuals fulfilled all the requirements of a legal Information Commission as envisaged under the Right to Information Act 2005.
The MRTIM also demanded that apart from the two names, the other nominees being considered by the search committee should be made public along with their bio-data, track records and experiences with regard to the RTI and for upholding the spirit in which the RTI Act, 2005 was framed.
After the retirement of GP Wahlang as CIC, the state government had not been able to fill up the vacancy.
The government had also constituted a selection committee for selection of CIC and IC with the Chief Minister as the chairman besides Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Law Bindo M Lanong and Leader of Opposition Conrad K Sangma.
Mr Sangma had assured to make the selection and appointment of Chief Information Commissioner in a transparent and open manner.
