''The objective of the scheme is to attract talented youths to study science at an early stage,'' an official from Education Department said today.
The award will include cash of Rs 5,000 which would be given to young students of the age group between 10 and 15 years.
The government has included Science and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.
In order to attract students to science and mathematics, the official said Education Department had also instructed all Inspectors of schools in the seven districts to organise District Level Science Exhibition.
''These exhibitions would infuse interest, promote and develop the study of science and technology,'' he said.
Earlier, the state government has also announced cash incentives to encourage youths in the state to compete in the all-India civil service examinations conducted by the Union Public Service Commission.
Youths from the state would be eligible for the incentive, provided they produce the Permanent Residential Certificate (PRC), duly signed by the Deputy Commissioner, when they avail of the cash incentives.
Those, who passed the Civil Services (Prelim) Examinations, would be rewarded with Rs 5,000 each and candidates, who passed the Civil Service (Main) Examination, would be rewarded with Rs 10,000 each.
The government has also decided to reimburse upto Rs 20,000 of any course fee paid to any recognised coaching institute in the country.
