"The ministry has released Rs 9.1 crore for the schemes. Ninety per cent of the cost for construction of check dams and irrigation facilities would be borne by Centre and 10 per cent would be incurred by state government," state Director of Soil and Water Conservation A Syiem said at the launch of Central Accelerated Irrigation Benefits Programme (AIBP) at Jowai on Tuesday.
Syiem said eight projects for improvement of shifting cultivation covering an area of 4000 hectare with a project cost of Rs 4 crore was sanctioned and Rs 53 lakh has been released.
