Meghalaya Health Minister quits as political crisis deepens

Shillong, Mar 12 : In Meghalaya, in a dramatic development another MLA from Hills States People's Democratic Party, HSPDP, Mr. Advisor Pariang, has resigned from the post of health Minister .

Informing this the state chief minister has said that the HSPDP member reigned from his portfolio not from the government.

The supremo of HSPDP Mr. Hopping Stone Lyngdoh has alleged that Dr. A Pariang has been missing since Thursday morning and he is going to file a case about his disappearance.

Amidst of present political crisis on Thursday both the state chief minister Dr. Donkupar Roy and the leader of opposition Dr. D D Lapang met governor separately to apprise their party's stand .

Meetings are under way now in both the camps to find way out of the ongoing crisis. .

Earlier, opposition leader Dr D D Lapang has warned the Meghalaya Progressive Alliance that if it would resort to any unfair means in saving the government then his party would seek central intervention in state.

On Thursday, Dr D D Lapang met state governor Mr. R S Moosahari to say that the ruling Meghalaya Progressive Alliance has no right to run government as it has already lost its majority.

Later Thursday afternoon briefing media persons in Shillong Dr. Lapang has said since the government headed by the Nationalist Congress Party and United Democratic Party has lost its number it should not continue in power.

Meanwhile the ruling alliance chief as well as the state chief minister has also met the state governor on Thursday to appraise his alliance stand.
