As chief guest, Prof Bhattacharjee said that it is really encouraging to see such fair. In this regard, the council’s contribution is really remarkable. In the era of competition, where the jute products are far behind, fair like these can play an important role.
Banishikha Dutta, ADC, Cachar said that there is great demand of jute products in the markets. She said that the Centre and State should work together to revive the industry. She further said that these products are eco friendly, which are also beneficial for the people. She assured that she will speak to higher authorities for a permanent stall in this town.
Various Self Help Groups from Kolkata and other districts of West Bengal along with commercial units also participated in the fair. Besides, some Self Help Groups from Barak valley also laid emphasis on their participation.
In the fair products like bags, shoes, jewellery, jute printing, jute canvas, jute wall hanging, jute dust material were available for sale.
