HC dismisses Meghalaya University students' plea

ALLAHABAD: The Allahabad High Court has dismissed a writ petition filed by several candidates, who have obtained graduation degrees from Chandra Mohan Jha University (CMJ University) Meghalaya, requesting the court to treat their degree as valid.

The order was passed by Justice Vikram Nath on a bunch of petitions filed by Satyesh Kumar and 120 other candidates after hearing their counsels and the University Grants Commission (UGC) counsel.

The petitioners, on the basis of the graduation degrees, had applied for various jobs but their claim was rejected as their degrees are not valid.

After hearing UGC counsel, the court observed that the visitor of the university has already taken a decision regarding cancellation of degrees awarded by the Meghalaya University from 2009 to 2013.
