A group of over 15 people armed with daggers, machetes and other weapons from Assam's Hat-Singimari area raided the village, located about 12 km from Garobadha town near here, and went from house to house attacking its inhabitants yesterday, they said.
The girl, who ran for cover, was raped by one of the attackers, police said, adding that she is currently being treated at the Tura Civil Hospital and her condition is stated to be stable.
The armed men looted Rs 7,000 and a double barrel gun from the villagers.
Police said that they were closely coordinating with their counterparts in Assam to nab the accused.
