Meghalaya runner unhurt in Boston blasts

SHILLONG: Architect Gerald Pde, who is also a runner, escaped unhurt in the Boston blasts by a whisker. Gerald (39), a resident of the Nongthymmai locality of the city, was invited to take part in the marathon this year. He ran the Boston Marathon in 2012 too.

"Gerald always had a passion for running. He went to Boston to draw attention towards runners of Meghalaya," his relative said. "He is returning home on Friday," another family member said.

Eager to have him home, his family members have expressed relief over the fact that Gerald escaped unhurt in the blasts.

According to sources, Gerald, who is one of the organizers of the half marathon in Shillong, has been working hard to collect funds for aspiring youngsters of the state to take part in an upcoming half marathon in New Delhi.
