Post-militant attacks, VIPs to get ‘increased security’

In the wake of stepped up attacks by the militants, Meghalaya police decided to provide “increased security” to all legislators and VIPs in the state.

Suspected militants lobbed a grenade at the private residence of the state’s community and rural development minister Saleng Sangma in Garo Hills on Saturday night.

The minister was away in Shillong when the grenade was hurled. Meghalaya director general of police Kulbir Krishan said “increased security” would be provided to all MLAs and ministers to thwart any untoward incident.
