Meghalaya govt to be proactive in matters of governance, CM

Meghalaya government was trying to ensure that issue of “governance” was addressed in a much more “proactive” manner, Chief Minister Mukul Sangma said today.

“The issue of governance which will be integrated in itself with various other agencies of the government will go a long way in enabling the officers to achieve the objective of serving the state and its people,” the Chief Minister said in his address to the Annual Conference 2012 of the Meghalaya Civil Service Officers’ Association (MCSOA) here.

Stating that the issue of governance itself was the most important component, the chief minister said, “There is a need for us to ensure that we continue to learn. We must be willing to learn and that will go a long way in enabling us to equip with ideas and knowledge making us capable of delivering the kind of services which benefit the people.”

He said that officers need to equip themselves with all kinds of knowledge and skills which include everything - the mind affairs and the approach, faithful to oneself and commitments adding “All these things come together.”

He said that there has been substantial initiative from the side of the government in making everyone competent and capable of fulfilling the commitment and living up to the expectation of the people.

“Thereby it can generate the kind of hope and happiness amongst the people whom we served…,” the Chief Minister said.

Urging upon the young officers to be more innovative and creative, the chief minister said, “There must be sincere efforts from everyone to be innovative and creative to find out the best way as to how the objective of serving the people can have be effective. This can happen when you have the desire and intention".
