Two Shillong girls stabbed in Delhi

SHILLONG: Two young doctors — Adaleen Shabong and Virginia Shangpliang, both from Shillong — were stabbed by their once "roommate" Shankar Thapa, also from Shillong, in New Delhi on Saturday.

The three new MBBS pass outs were staying together at an apartment in Gurjar Dairy Flats in Hauz Khas area of the national capital till Shankar was asked by the two girls to vacate the flat a week ago.

All of them returned from China recently after completing their MBBS there and were staying together in New Delhi to prepare for the Medical Council of India examination. Adaleen and Virginia are from 2006 batch while the culprit Shankar was from 2005 batch.

Delhi police is in search of Shankar who is absconding after committing the crime, Mr Vijender, the Investigating Officer of the case in Hauz Khas police station told The Shillong Times over phone.

"The trio had a friendship break-up recently following which the two girls asked the boy to leave the flat. After a week, he returned to the flat and tried to speak to the girls, who turned him down. The boy then picked up a knife from the kitchen adjacent to the living room and attacked the girls," said police official.

Adaleen sustained injuries on her ears and back of the shoulder whereas Virginia was injured on her chest and abdomen during the course of the blood-strained intrigue by Shankar.

Both of them were admitted to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi.

The policeman said Shankar had the intention of damaging their faces, but failed in his bid.

When contacted, hospital authorities said the girls are out of danger, but yet to be released.
