Integrated check post to replace toll gates in Meghalaya

Shillong, June 2 (PTI) The Meghalaya government is planning to set up an integrated check post, in lieu of the multiple toll gates in the state, to streamline revenue collection and check unscrupulous elements from operating illegal toll gates.

After chairing a high-level meeting on the issue, Chief Minister Mukul Sangma said the government plans to do away with the multiple check gates.

"Instead we are planning to set up a single integrated check post on the entry point of the truckers," he said here last night.

The district administration authorities have been instructed to dismantle all the illegal toll gates operating in the state.

"Action will be taken against operators of such illegal toll gates as per law," he said.
