The cheque was delivered to the village council by Mike Cowell, Managing Director of Lafarge Surma Cement.
A storm, which hit Shella last week, destroyed more than 100 houses at the village. Strong winds and rains uprooted trees along the roads and flattened houses besides damaging the areca nut and other plantations.
The amount provided by LUMPL will be used to provide relief to the affected, rebuilding their dwellings as well as to support the repair effort, an official communique from the company said.
